A chromatic tuner is not limited to standard E–A–D–G–B–E. It follows all twelve notes, so it works just as well for Drop D, open tunings, seven-string guitars, bass, ukulele and plenty of other instruments.
The cents display is the fine-detail view: 0 cents is right on pitch. The animated field moves left when the note is flat and right when it is sharp.

Does it work with acoustic and electric guitars?
Yes. An acoustic guitar can be heard directly by your device microphone. For an unplugged electric guitar, bring the phone or laptop a little closer to the strings; an amp at a low, clean level works too.
Why does the note sometimes move after the first attack?
A guitar string changes slightly as the initial attack settles. Let the note ring for a moment and tune to the stable reading rather than chasing the very first peak.
Is my audio recorded or uploaded?
No. Pitch detection happens in your browser. The microphone signal is used only while the tuner is running and is not uploaded by this tool.
