TronicalTune is not magic. Compact step motors and micro-mechanical gear drives turn each PowerHead in small, controlled increments.

Tronical engineering –
Gibson partnership.

Chris Adams, founder of Tronical, developed the automatic tuning concept to remove a recurring interruption from playing. The early PowerTune system proved that a guitar could tune itself accurately without changing the way musicians play.

Only through the partnership with Gibson was it possible to develop Tronical’s system successfully to full production maturity — and to keep improving it through generations of instruments and technology.

Gibson brought manufacturing scale, instruments and worldwide market experience. Tronical contributed the tuning mechanics, electronics and software. Together, the technology moved from an ambitious engineering project to a system used by guitarists around the world.

Tronical presents a modular automatic tuning system: compact motors, contact electronics and intelligent control working directly on the guitar.

2007

Gibson Robot Guitar

The first major production success. Gibson offers self-tuning technology in a limited-edition guitar and introduces automatic tuning to a worldwide audience.

Gibson Dark Fire
